Youth Encounter: Empowering Rangatahi to Unleash Potential

Motorbike tyres hitting the dirt. Surfboards riding waves. These are two activity-based counselling options at Youth Encounter.

Wrap-around support options for these activities include therapy, mentoring, camps, community gatherings, leadership training, voluntary work, workplace experiences and employment opportunities.

Earlier this year, Youth Encounter held a Celebration Day of the Awhina School Therapy Course.

It is the fourth year that Awhina has participated in Youth Encounter’s activity-based programme.

Funding streams for this programme include donations and grant support. Something a bit different about Youth Encounter is a fundraising initiative ‘Youth Encounter Success’, which entails dirt bike riding and surfing activities ‘learn to ride’, ‘learn to surf’, ‘social event’ and ‘team building’. The fundraising helps create sustainability for Youth Encounter.
