Building Community Safety: The Reporoa Community Patrol Garage

The Reporoa Community Patrol has successfully completed a double garage, a project supported by Rotorua Trust funding. This facility, situated beside the Reporoa Policing Centre, serves as a central hub for the patrol team, providing secure storage for two patrol vehicles and essential equipment.

The patrol team now operates more efficiently, with reduced travel times and quicker response capabilities during emergencies. The garage has already proven to be an asset to the community. It hosted a farewell and welcome event for local police constables, providing a relaxed and accessible venue for community interaction. Plans are underway to use the space for future initiatives, such as the “Safer Plates” program in 2025.

The impact of the garage extends beyond its physical presence. It has strengthened the patrol team’s ability to prevent crime, support police operations, and assist in emergencies, such as traffic control at crash sites or helping farmers with stock on the road.
