Rotorua Trust supported the second New Zealand Hindu Elders Conference, held in October 2024, at the Hindu Heritage Centre. The event, titled “Old is Gold II,” honored the invaluable contributions of elders within the Hindu community and facilitated meaningful dialogue.
Organised by the Hindu Elders Foundation, a division of the Hindu Council of New Zealand Inc., the conference brought together over 80 delegates, including government representatives, NGOs, community leaders, and well-wishers from across the country.
The conference featured engaging panel discussions on topics such as collaboration with government agencies, overcoming cultural barriers, and promoting health and well-being. Experts from Dementia NZ, Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, and Age Concern Rotorua shared insights on dementia awareness, holistic wellness, and early diagnosis, addressing critical health concerns within the Indian community. A rejuvenating yoga workshop concluded the event, promoting physical and mental wellness. The Hindu Heritage Centre, a vibrant hub of cultural activity, provided the perfect venue.
