Rotorua Lakes Coastguard’s rescue vessel, MV Rotorua II, has received a significant upgrade, thanks in part to funding from Rotorua Trust.
The refurbishment project has significantly improved the vessel’s performance, safety, and reliability, ensuring it remains a vital asset for lake rescues in the region.
Key Upgrades and Benefits
New Engines Installed
The 10-year-old outboards were replaced with new Yamaha 4-Stroke engines, boosting performance and ensuring operational reliability for years to come.
Improved Safety Standards
Structural and mechanical issues were addressed, reducing risks and creating a safer environment for the volunteer crew.
Extended Lifespan
General wear and tear was repaired, extending the vessel’s service life and reducing the need for future overhauls.

The project deepened relationships with local providers, including Telfer Marine, Striker Marine, Canmac Upholstery, Explore Boats, and Prime Marine Surveyors.
