Sustainable and Thriving Outdoor Environment Project Continued

Rotorua Trust funding has contributed to the ongoing success of the Linton Park Community Centre’s outdoor environment project. With the Trust’s support, the Centre has been able to further its mission of educating the community on sustainable food growth, using the gardens as a prime example. Karen’s expertise in environmental engineering has expanded and enhanced the garden, leading to a more bountiful harvest and increased community engagement.

The project’s positive impact is best illustrated by the approximately 40 individuals and groups, spanning all ages and backgrounds, who have benefited from the initiative. The support and feedback from both the community and volunteers underscore the project’s value and the shared desire for its growth.

Looking ahead, the Centre’s goals include:

    • Utilising the produce for soups and preserves.
    • Transforming the dirt pad into an orchard and kid-friendly play area.
    • Expanding efforts.
    • Creating a wind barrier.
    • Forging more connections with like-minded groups.

The Linton Park Community Centre has expressed that they look forward to its continued evolution.
